Managing Director, National Legal Recruiting & Consulting Email: bob@levinandcompany.com Bob brings 15 years of experience in building and managing legal teams in the life sciences sector.  He specializes in identifying the Legal, Government Affairs and Compliance personnel that have the skills and temperament to help advance and protect a client’s business.  He also brings his professional insight to the search for attorneys to fill Business Development, Human Resources, Regulatory and C-level positions.   As a General Counsel for private and public companies, Bob's legal practice has included intellectual property, corporate governance, finance and securities, business development, R&D, compliance (including FDA and other regulatory issues), commercialization, contract and employment law.  He has led internal investigations, dealt with government regulators, and has a record of successfully avoiding and settling litigation.  Bob can help clients evaluate what they require in a legal team, because he has been there himself.

Prior to joining Levin & Company, Bob founded Tyr Legal, specializing in strategic legal and business advice for biotech companies.  Previously, he was Vice President and General Counsel of CoTherix, a specialty pharmaceutical company, which he joined upon its IPO.  Bob helped CoTherix launch its first approved product and secure rights to additional products, which positioned it for a successful acquisition.  

Bob also served as Associate General Counsel of Affymetrix, a microarray and bioinformatics company, building its diagnostics business. Prior to Affymetrix, he was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Blaze Software, Inc. and its successor Brokat Technologies, Inc.,an e-commerce software company.  He also served on Blaze’s IPO team. Earlier, Bob was Corporate Counsel at Genentech, Inc. and an attorney with the firm of Latham & Watkins.

Bob holds a B.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
